We Invest 9% of Our Annual Revenue in R&D

As MAY Seed we are aware that the secret of success in seed breeding is qualified R&D. With this consciousness we continue our R&D investments to have insure global competitiveness. We invest a minimum of 9% of our annual revenue to R&D and add an average of 10 new seed varieties annually to our portfolio in the scope of the breeding activities we conduct on the crops we focus on at our 5 R&D centers in different regions of Turkey.

On-Site Breeding Strategy

Our Marmara R&D Stations at Bursa-Center and Mustafakemalpaşa are used for vegetable, field crops, and industrial crop breeding and to sustain pure seedstock crop stocks.

At our Aegean R&D Station and East Mediterranean R&D Station we conduct breeding activities for vegetable, corn, cotton and industrial crop varieties while at out Thrace R&D Station we conduct Hybrid Sunflower breeding activities

With our controlled greenhouse infrastructure, we conduct breeding activities 12 months a year without interruption, which helps us rapidly realize product development processes. Additionally, we continue our breeding activities at Central and Southern hemisphere countries such as Chili, Argentina, Mexico, and South Africa and conduct testing genetic purity and off-season foundation seed enrichment activities.

Seed is a living being. Living beings have difficulty living in a place different from the climatic conditions in which they were born and raised. They cannot adapt and get stressed. Seed is no different. It is affected by the soil, air, climate and water in which it grows. Thus, we improve the seeds by breeding them in the lands where they will be grown.

As MAY Seed, we compete with global companies with our capacity to produce all the seed needs of Turkey in our area. We develop our varieties by on-site breeding of Hybrid Sunflower, Hybrid Corn, Cotton, Bean and Sweet Corn crops and sell them under the MAY brand in International Markets, and in Turkey. With on-site breeding and the use of state-of-the-art technology, we are instrumental in making our country one of the top countries in the world for seed production. We introduce high quality Turkish Seeds to the World with high value-added, foundation seeds and license exports.
